Raucous Noise

Make a joyful noise and sing;

glad and raucous praises bring.

Come before the one who knows,

steadfast love enduring shows.

God has made us all to grow;

blessing out of heaven flows.

Blessings from Godโ€™s sheep shall go

with thanksgiving evermore.ย

Walk With Integrity

Of loyalty and justice I will sing;

study the ways in which the blameless live;

Keep my eyes from any baseless thing

Walk with integrity and all forgive.

Work of the faithless ones i will disdain;

it shall not cling and not a speck remain.

Nothing of evil will indwell my heart.

Nor will perversity have any part.

Dealers in slander will not catch my ear.

Sneerers and mockers, these may not draw near.

Faithful, blameless folks, who eโ€™re you be,

Come and serve the Lord along with me.

Evโ€™ryone faithful finds a welcome here.

Liars, deceivers, have the boot to fear.

Out from nearness they will soon be sent.

Only to enter back when they repent.ย

Psalm 25:1-10

To you, my Lord, I lift my soul

In You, O God, I place my trust,

O let me not be put to shame

Beat down by foes or ground to dust.

—–

Exalt all those who wait for you

Put down the ones who  live by lies.

Make known the way of love and truth

By which a soul to glory flies.

—–

Through steadfast love and mercy, Lord

Eternal covenants you make,

So set aside my youthful sin,

Forgive me for your goodnessโ€™ sake.

—–

Both good and upright is the Lord;

instructing sinners in the way.

Godโ€™s paths of love and faithfulness

protect the faithful evโ€™ry day.

What’s Holy Anyway? (Psalm 99)

The โ€œholyโ€ angels all fall short. They just hold up a chair.

The โ€œholyโ€ city fails as well, because itโ€™s just a โ€œthereโ€.

And any thing or person we can name is quite the same.

For โ€œGod alone is holyโ€ let all people now exclaim.

—–

The justice and the equity both testify each day.

Godโ€™s standards of performance are above the human fray.

We bow in worship as before one greater far than we

For equity and justice are what make us truly free.

—–

Some heroes of past centuries (all sinners such as we),

experienced Godโ€™s answers when they found themselves in need.

Godโ€™s word from cloudy pillars and an ever sure decree

assured them of acceptance and of holiness indeed.

The Doer of Marvellous Things (Ps. 98)

O sing to the doer of marvellous things.

Shout out a new song to the king of all kings.

In sight of the nations where victoryโ€™s shown

Godโ€™s steadfast and faithful love surely are known.

—–

A joyful noise make to the Lord, all the earth;

break forth into verses of praising and mirth.

Accompany song with both drums and guitar.

Play loudly so you can be heard from afar.

—–

Let oceans and rivers and mountains join in.

All beings on earth claim a share of the din,

for when the Lord comes we will all be set free

the judgment of God will confirm equity.

The Lord is King (Psalm 97)

 The Lord is King, the earth rejoices

Coastlands and hills, lift up your voice.

Darkness and clouds disperse and scatter.

Justice and right have come to reign.

—–

Thunder is heard mid lightning flashes

Mountaintops shake before the Lord.

Heavens proclaim their makerโ€™s greatness

gods of the earth forsake their pride.

—–

Godโ€™s light will shine, upon the righteous

Upright in heart will know true joy

People rejoice, for Godโ€™s victorious.

Thanks be to God, forevermore.

Fitting and True (Psalm 96:7-9)

O everybody say that God is glorious and strong.

Itโ€™s fitting and itโ€™s also true; and it would not be wrong.

Approach the Lord with reverence, the very sort resembling

the kind that you can find entwined and fine, that leaves you trembling.
