Tell the nation of the sin, that the people live within,
acting like there’s neither taint, nor a risk of any stain.
Faith is not a tit for tat, “You do this and God does that.”
It is, rather, how you treat those at home and down the street.
—–
Acting holy just to fight, doesn’t make your service right.
Bow and scrape or roll in ash, that is just a load of trash.
Blessings are the things YOU bring to the poor and hungering.
Undo shackles, loose the rope; give oppressed a little hope.
—–
Do these things, and you will shine. Healing, too, will come in time.
Victory will lead the way, God’s own light be in your train.
Having seen and also heard, God will answer you by word.
First you set oppressed folks free, then you treat them equally.
—–
Feed the hungry, satisfy needs that are identified.
That is how your light shall rise, darkness will be set aside.
Like a desert after rain, life returns to you again.
When you drop your sin and guilt, ancient ruins get rebuilt.
