Stark Choices

Sometimes choices can be stark, like life and death or rich and poor.

Sometimes someone states them clearly; brings the difference to your door.

Often, though, we opt to stick with how we thought things went before.

“This is what our ancestors or culture say. It’s what we’re for.”

Make your choice, declare your option. No one’s here to force your hand.

Leave it to the stars above and earth around to judge; and stand

independent, on your own, out on the moors completely free.

Or, in contrast, come into the Lord’s beloved community.
