Our sin cries out against us, our failings testify.
Yet, Lord, the land implores you, “return, and fortify.”
You dwell among these mountains; you know each path and stream.
You’re not confused or helpless. You root our very name.
—–
The Lord responds describing a nation’s wayward walk,
A people’s firm indifference in action and in talk.
Rejection is appointed. No healing is in sight.
No peace on the horizon, but terror day and night.
—–
Confession of our sins and, our ancestors’ as well
and pleas for recognition of ancient glories swell.
Rejecting all the idols whose favor we’ve engaged,
We look to you for rescue and respite in our day.
