Canadian Thanksgiving Day

Rejoice, Always Rejoice

Rejoice, always rejoice. Again I say rejoice!

Show everyone you’re gentle.

The Lord is very near, so worry not a bit.

Put ever-y-thing in prayer.

—–

The very peace of God will guard your hearts and minds,

beyond all understanding.

Now, set your minds upon what’s true, and honor more

what’s pure, wh-at’s just and pleasing.

—–

Where excellence is found and things worthy of praise,

keep doing what I’ve practiced.

The God of peace will be with you in Jesus Christ

from now un-til forever.

The Bread That Makes All Well

Over on the other side, where he’d gone, but not to hide,

folks who found him were surprised and asked him,”Rabbi, when you came here?”

Jesus didn’t answer that. He just told them what was what.

—–

“Work for what is worth your sweat, which is mine to give, you bet.”

They then wondered what to do to get their father, God’s approval.

Jesus told them to believe, in the One God sent. “In me.”

—–

Doubters asked to see a sign that he was, indeed, divine.

They suggested that he feed them. Absent that, they wouldn’t heed him.

Jesus offered up himself, as the bread that makes all well.
