We thought our inheritance had need of no revision.
Now bar-bar-ians rule the roost and treat it with derision.
“Poor”, they say, “need nothing more than to just keep working.
That’s how heaven wants it; taking checks is sin and shirking.”
—–
We know our complacency has made this lot our leaders.
They say that they do God’s will, but they are bottom feeders.
We have gotten satisfied with profits for investors.
Save us, God, from sins that differ naught from our ancestors’.
—–
Nations where all people thrive have very much to teach us.
Now we need to open up, let messages come, reach us.
God hears cries of people who anticipate privation.
Act with haste give God praise in every generation.
