Sermons Everywhere

Stop, look and listen; there are sermons east, west, north and south.

Important ones are taught in clay down at the potter’s house.

There, working at a wheel by hand, an artist shapes a pot,

but if it doesn’t please it gets reworked right on the spot.

A church or nation in God’s hand is something like that clay:

in steady re-form-a-tion and re-work-ing every day.

Of per-ma-nent ex-is-tence we’ve no steady guarantee.

We live by loving guidance in a state of frailty.
