Draw near to what cannot be touched, blaze, gloom and darkest tempest;
to voices you’ll beg not to hear, and blaring, blasting trumpet.
Though even ancients scarce endured the sight upon the mountain
Yet you have been admitted to what flows from Zion’s fountain.
—–
More angels than could dance on pins will gather for the meeting,
and all whose names are written down are sure to find a greeting.
The One through whom all things are rearranged is also present,
whose voice (that shook the earth before) and now has shaken heaven.
—–
Again it sounds and shaking, breaking all that is created
leaves only the unbreakable. Thus God is venerated.
Through reverence and awe we offer God the proper worship.
Consumed by fire we’re lifted high, eternally in kinship.
