Faith

Faith has carried folks through peril; faithlessness has got some drowned.

Faith as well has parted waters, sometimes making walls come down.

Even prostitutes with faith are saved while others meet the sword.

Women, men, have now and then done wondrous things and served the Lord.

—–

Not through skill with weapons, nor by strength of arm or clever wit,

were the mouths of lions closed or fi-res quenched that had been lit.

Prisoners obtained release while others suffered full of hope.

Faithful folk are more than worthy of the world where we just cope.

—–

As the promise was for them, it still remains for us as well.

Those who went before surround us, watch and cheer with raucous yells.

Look unto the One who led, enduring shame without a thought.

Follow how he went to where he sits at the right hand of God.
