When Abram heard God in a vision one night, the word brought him comfort, not fright.
Protection for now and some greatness to come, were promised, though each out of sight.
—–
Then Abram spoke up in confusion for he saw nothing of children about.
Such property as he had come to possess would pass to a slave of his house.
—–
He placed the deficiency right at the door of God, whom he blamed for neglect.
Who called him outside and said, “look at the stars. Now, carefully count and inspect.
—–
The number of these stands for children unborn, whose ancestor you’re sure to be.”
So Abram is known as our father in faith, whose righteousness came through belief.
