Abigail, a rancher’s wife who was much smarter than her spouse
knew that even homeless strangers could bring blessings to their house.
When some migrants who had helped them were refused a just reward,
she rushed in with what was needed and relations were restored.
—–
Bless the Lord who, through this woman, once restrained a hostile hand.
Bless all women who perceive and wield resources in our land;
Forging peace between contenders, giving voice to suff’rers’ pain.
May all people, men and women, lift a loud and proud refrain!
