Mourning Into Dancing

We were down, next to the pit.  When we cried, you brought the lift.

You were angry, justly so.  That’s now over. Praises flow.

Nights of weeping in the past.  Morning joy has come at last.

—–

Cradled in prosperity,  blinded to our basic need,

Thinking we can take it all;  knock the props out, and we fall.

Still, we’s say we’re not ALL wrong, God needs us, or there’s no song.

—–

Mourning into dancing turned. Sackcloth raiment all got burned.

Joy-filled praises will be heard. Everybody, hear the word!

Never let the thanking stop. We were down, but now we’re tops.
