The Peaceable Kingdom

Behold, what I’m about to do, make earth and heavens, all things, new

The former things won’t come to mind, they’ll all have been left far behind.

Be glad, rejoice, at what I do. Your city will be happy, too.

—–

The cries of weeping and distress no longer drown out cheerfulness.

The newborn live, the elders too. A hundred years will still be youth.

Each have a home with door and roof, plant vineyards and enjoy the fruit.

—–

In labor they shall find reward; their offspring be blessed by the Lord.

Before they call their plea I’ll heed, providing what I know they need.

The wolf and lamb together dwell; the lion and the ox as well.
