One Morning Midst the Tombs

She came that morning to the tomb and saw the stone removed,

Then ran to two apostles telling what she thought was true.

Away they sped, with one ahead who dared not go inside.

The other came. They took a look, believing at the sight.

—–

They went back home, but Mary stayed and looked inside the tomb,

where angels sat in Jesus’ place (there was sufficient room).

They asked why she was weeping and she spoke of whom she missed.

She heard a sound and turned around, not thinking “who is this?”

—–

She thought he was the gardener and asked him for the corpse.

He spoke her name and then she knew this was her Lord, of course.

“Do not hold on, but get you gone, you’ve news to tell our friends.”

She went, announcing what she’d seen and heard, as she was sent.
