
He asked him, “What is truth?” and then dismissed the case.
He sought to grant release if just to save their face.
A bandit was requested then, to their disgrace.

A flogging then ensued and there was mockery.
A crown and a robe with taunting and some cruelty.
These failed to satisfy what they desired to see.

He then appeared, defaced, abased to be beheld.
A shout rang to crucify, and some folks yelled.
Then off they went to lynching grounds upon a hill.
