Jesus Took the Woman’s Side

At Bethany, where Laz’rus dwelt and Martha served while Mary knelt,

A fragrant incense filled the room as one intended for a tomb.

—–

Dissent was raised as someone said the market was a better place

For things as costly as this gift to be exchanged for benefit.

—–

So Jesus took the woman’s side, rebuffing him who had been snide.

“Of poor, of course, we are aware, but gifts like this must all be shared.“

—–

A crowd of people came to see the ones they’d heard of prev’ious’ly.

The rivals thought it travesty and were consumed by jealousy.
