See the Servant I have Chosen (Monday of Holy Week)

See the servant I have chosen and behold my soul’s delight.

I have put my spirit on him. Nations shall be put to right.

Working quietly and gently, justice he will bring to earth.

There is nothing that can stop it. Wait. You will behold his worth.

—–

Says the Lord who made the earth and stretched the heavens out above;

who gave breath to people on it, moving all to live and love,

“I have called you to be righteous, given you the light of day.

Go now, shine into the dungeons, show the captives freedom’s way.

—–

Call me Lord, and share my glory. Nothing else is to be praised.

Former things have come and gone, new things blossom in their place.

Heed the things that I will tell you of a future yet to come.

Sing for joy and dance for pleasure. Share the laughter, everyone.
