I Waited Patiently For God

I waited patiently for God who turned to me and heard me

And rescued me from where I was, a pit both deep and miry.

God drew me up and set my feet upon a rock securely

And put a new song in my mouth, of love and joy most dearly.

—–

May many hear and put their trust where happiness awaits them.

Not fall to pride or go astray pursuing gods of mayhem.

You’ve multiplied, O Lord our God, your wondrous deeds and graces.

Your thoughts toward us can’t be compared to those in other places.

—–

They’re more than words can ever say, beyond what we are counting.

It isn’t sacrifice you want, nor offerings abounding.

You’ve given us an open ear. On hearts your law is written.

We will proclaim your greatness, for there’s nothing to be hidden.

—–

It’s our delight to do your will, to tell of your salvation.

We sing about your faithfulness out loud with great elation.

Your mercy, Lord, won’t be withheld. Our bond cannot be severed.

Your steadfast love and faithfulness will keep us safe forever.
