
Don’t neglect that being thankful isn’t just a one-time thing.
We, however, are forgetful, so, to be encouraging,
we are asked to pay attention, count the weeks and days until
once again we come together, dancing, singing, raising hell.
This time there’s a pot-luck supper: barbecue with cakes and fruit.
God is pleased to see us merry, hear our praises, smell what’s cooked.
Yes, we recognize we’re sinful, but that’s not the big thing here.
Most important is the joy of celebration every year.
