If you take on someone’s sin,
you should wash it off again.
Water may not be enough;
sin is very sticky stuff.
Sackcloth, ashes and remorse,
may be needed in due course.

Even those who lend a hand,
can get stained in ways unplanned.
Give them lots of healing space.
Treat their woundedness with grace.
Those who aid our getting clean,
share a blessing that we need.
