Though our leaders are not perfect, neither are the folks they lead.
Emperors must know they’re naked, as are all by whom they’re seen.
It takes courage to repent and say what people need to hear;
say what people need to hear.
—–
If we tell ourselves the lie that who we’ve chosen has no sin
It’s the line for disappointment and destruction that we’re in.
We’ll get burnt and sacrificed, and only have ourselves to blame;
only have ourselves to blame.
—–
When the morning after comes we’ll see our dreams have turned to smoke,
and the social burdens will have fallen on the poorest folk;
while the wealth of those on top has grown by flying leaps and bounds;
grown by flying leaps and bounds.
