A Holy Conversation

He did for himself what no one else could do.

Though holy, he admitted to his own sin.

Something bled and died, when Aaron realized

his actions were not private, he’d been espied.

Ev’ry nasty mess that we bring and confess

can vanish like the smoke that’s blown far and wide.

Debt to heaven paid; its penalty assuaged;

we yet turn to the people, whom we’ve betrayed.
