When Leadership Emerges

When leadership emerges, it must be somehow trained;

or otherwise its vices might run without restraint.

—–

The shaping of new leaders requires our sacrifice.

Obedience, repentance and learning are the price.

—–

When we install as leaders the ones who will command,

we tell them that they’re trusted, and hope they understand.

—–

The trappings of the office, and ceremonies held,

are necessary parts of the stories that we will tell.
