You Might As Well Have Died

Make no end run around the One

by whom your paycheck’s signed.

You’ll find yourself cashiered, and worse,

your future in a bind.

There’ll be no job for which some back-

ground check must be supplied.

In terms of who you used to be,

you might as well have died.

  1. I like your use of the sports metaphor: good one. But do I have the right verse in Leviticus?? My text has to do with medium and wizard. I guess, since those
“jobs” are rare in our society, your version of the verse makes sense!

  2. It is absolutely the right verse. “Making an end run around the one by whom your paycheck’s signed” is exactly what mediums and wizards do viz the Almighty God. When, instead of going directly to the creator with matters, we seek to get what we want by ungodly means, we might as well be dead.
