Molech for Moderns

Our children we don’t own. God’s given them on loan,

and watched them as they’ve grown, recording how we’ve done.

—–

We’re trusted with their care, but we must all beware

They’re not for us to use, or others to abuse.

—–

We want them to do well, wherever they excel,

so watch out for their health, not to increase our wealth.

—–

We love them for themselves, avoiding what compels

The sacrifice of lives, in which affection dies.

—–

When forced to live our dreams, a child’s young spirit screams.

It may be only by God’s grace that she survives.
