A Principle, Once Firmly Set

A principle once firmly set for Is’rel long ago,

that by the Nile, across the sea, the land of old Pharoah,

had laws and ways they should forsake. But, they should keep in mind

in Canaan there would also be forbidden stuff, forbidden stuff,  to find.

—–

The rules and laws of God alone were what they had to keep

and follow as their guiding light if they would be God’s sheep.

Today in synagogue and church, at many grandmas’ knees

the ways of God are taught but get forgotten when, forgotten when, we please.
