Black and Beautiful

I am black and beautiful. My body is so fine.

Ev’ry  place upon my skin bears marks of the divine.

—–

Come, behold me. King, enfold me in your tight embrace.

Brothers, still your anger for the sun has kissed my face.

—–

I have kept another’s vineyard, but my own have not.

Tell me, my beloved of the place you tend your flock.

—–

There, at noon, unveiled I’ll meet you, near where others lie.

Black and beautiful in pastures under fair blue sky.

  1. You make a good point. All colors are beautiful. My rendition was an attempt to put some scripture (noted as the source in the material below the text) to a tune for singing. I hope that I did the original poet’s ideas justice.

  2. Yes, you really did justice to the original poet, by putting his/her rendition on the blog and let others to know and celebrate there beautiful work.
