Pleasure and Pacing

Pity the people without self-control

they’re like a city with holes in its wall.

Finding some sweetness they swallow it all

Though their capacity is much too small.

If you’re the neighbor who visits too much

you might be welcomed to leave in a rush.

Honors may come, so accept them with thanks,

but if you seek them you’re only a crank.
