A patient plan will yield abundance,
while hasty action leads to ruin.
Be slow to speak; stay out of trouble.
Stay on the way, whate’re you’re doin’.
For death awaits the careless pilgrim,
and righteousness brings life and fame.
Be kind in all that you’re pursuin’,
let blessing rest upon your name.
—–
The wicked boldly make assertions.
The upright think about their ways.
The pleasure-lovers meet privations
when bills are due and must be paid.
Your sacrifice may seem the thing that
the Lord is always waiting for,
but righteous living done with justice
is what will open heaven’s door.
