Pretence is a Problem

Pretence is a problem when the poor appear as rich.

Making folks believe the ruse takes too many tricks.

When the wealthy strive to hide the ways that they’ve been blessed,

Assets may amass while homeless folks get stuck in tents.

—–

Winnings from a lottery come with a heavy cost.

Wealth by easy gain can strain, and friends can get lost.

Better to be righteous and to gain it bit by bit.

Light will shine for endless time and none will snuff your wick.

—–

Hope deferred can make you sick so take this wise advice.

Hold your tongue, obey the law, and stay far from strife.

When fulfillment meets desire you’ll find a tree of life,

where you’ll rest in shade, well satisfied deep inside.
