Things rarely if ever meet what we expect,
and never live up to their hype.
So listen, remember, and always reflect
on that which will keep you alive;
on that which will keep you alive.

Temptations are plenty and beautiful, too.
They slide sweetly into your ear.
They’ll lead you to places both bitter and cruel,
to consequences you should fear;
to consequences you should fear.

And even the tempters are ignorant of
The river of life that’s in flow.
They wander and waver and say this is love,
while deathward they aimlessly go;
while deathward they aimlessly go.
