Like Barking Dogs

O my God from enemies deliver,

from those thirsting for my blood.

Even now they lie in wait to get me;

stir up strife withIn my life.

Nothing that I’ve done has been transgression.

Nothing lives in me that needs suppression.

Enemies like barking dogs,

think that no one hears their noise.

—–

Rouse yourself and keep me in your vision.

Punish those who evil plot.

Laugh at them, and hold them in derision

O my strength and fortress, God.

In your steadfast love I’m sure you’ll meet me.

When you triumph over them let me see.

Enemies like barking dogs,

think that no one hears their noise.

—–

By your power make them fall and totter,

but don’t kill them. We’ll forget

For the cursing and the lies they utter,

irap them in their prideful net.

Make your justice sound throughout creation.

Fill our hearts with gladness and elation.

Enemies like barking dogs,

think that no one hears their noise.

—–

Of your might we’ll sing out in the morning,

of your steadfast love all day.

You have been our fortress and our refuge

on the day of our distress.

So at length, our strength, you’ll hear the praising.

of the people you’ve been busy raising.

Enemies like barking dogs

think that no one hears their noise.
