Listen to me all you peoples, all you who on earth do dwell
Low and high, both rich and poor, for wisdom is what I will tell.
Wealth itself is no protection when a life is on the block.
Arrogance saves neither saint nor sinner from the mortal shock.
There’s no one who’ll live forever, who will never see the grave.
Death will come for wealthy donor, just as for the homeless waif.
Wealth disperses, disappears, to heirs: some worthy, some not much.
People, like the animals, cannot abide in pride and such.
