When Our Eyes are Blind: Psalm 36

When our eyes are blind to right,

when we’re good in our own sight,

when our mouths are stuffed with lies,

then it comes as no surprise

that the chickens we have loosed come back home to rule the roost.

Praise the Lord for steadfast love,

righteousness from high above,

judgements deeper than the sea

saving folks like you and me,

Like the river of delights, is God’s fountain of true life.

So continue, Lord to shine,

light on all of humankind.

Redirect our arrogance

to your ever joyful dance.

From all evil set us free,  now and for eternity.
