Even a Nation can Fail (Psalm 9)

Give thanks to God and with joy spread the news.

Enemies fail and are righteously judged.

Wickedness vanishes, gladness ensues.

God is enthroned, keeping nations in view.

Saved from oppression; God never forsakes!

We trust the Lord to keep watch all our days.

God sees all suffering, notes those who hate.

Rescues the poor, sends oppressors away.

—–

Even a nation can fail by its sins,

thinking of how by aggression it wins.

God uses snares that the evil have made,

wiping them out, making memory fade.

—–

You who are needy, do not lose your hope.

God’s keeping watch over all on this globe.

God rises up both to judge and to love.

We’ll sing in thanks about all that God does.
