Anguish (Psalm 6)

Don’t rebuke me angrily or discipline me in your wrath.

Please be gracious as I languish. Heal me from the fear of death.

—–

Bring a steadfast loving rescue from the gates of hell that loom.

If I die, I won’t remember. I can’t praise you in that gloom.

—–

I am weary with this moaning and these tears that flood my bed.

In my grief I’m blind and lose the strength that I once thought I had.

—–

Go away, you evildoers. God has heard my crying voice.

I’m accepted, with my weakness. God has made a sov’reign choice.
